Fueling Up Before the Ultimate Feud

I had the chance to watch Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud Show right off of traffic light #2B in Pigeon Forge. This genuine outdoor show has two families, the Dawsons, and McGraws competing in dynamic-lumberjack events to see which family will be the champions of the ultimate feud. With climate controlled grandstands, the families compete against each other all year long, rain or shine.

Lumberjack Square offers three enjoyable restaurants, Five Guys, Calhoun’s, and Smoky Mountain Brewery. This gives you the choice to eat before or after the show, or place an order to go and enjoy your meal while watching the show! I ate at Five Guys before and ordered a burger and fries to get me geared up for the exciting night ahead!

Rolling into First Place

Competing in these high-intensity events at Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud Show are professional ESPN athletes. Each family goes head to head in 13 Lumberjack events. For each family to keep track of their score, Jill’s of the show hand out, “Lumberjack Cookies,” to an audience member. The host, Uncle Bud, checks the score periodically by asking the audience members who got a Lumberjack Cookie to hold them high in the air. The last event can be a nail biter if both families are tied with the same score. One member from each family competes in a log roll competition to see who would win the feud. I was on the edge of my seat for this one!

Up for the Adventure?

Lumberjack Square has an awesome adventure park with a ropes course called High Woodsman Challenge, timber towers, log rolls, and a boom run called Loggersports. You can compete just like the Lumberjacks and Jills in the show! I was ready to take on the challenge so one of the awesome guides, Tyler, suited me up for the adventure. I made my way through the multiple stations in the ropes course and then headed over to see if I had the balance to roll on the logs. Just like the log roll event in the show, you can experience it at the adventure park! You can compete against family and friends to see who can stay on the logs the longest!

Adventure Accepted

Along with the ropes course and log rolls, the adventure park has an 80 ft tower you can descend from! There are two lines you can choose from. One is a slower descend to the ground and the other is a free-fall. You are always attached to the line in both. The free-fall line can give you a belly full of butterflies as you fly in the air and float safely to the ground.

I accepted the adventure of descending from both lines, and I chose to do the slower line first and then the free-fall line second, so I could get a feel for what it was like from both.  I asked one of the wonderful guides, Ashley, if she could count me off before I went down. Another guide will always be at the bottom to lead you safely to the ground. Safety is Lumberjack Adventure Park’s number one priority while learning the ropes into becoming a lumberjack.

As I descended from the tower, Ryan, the other awesome guide was there at the bottom to unfasten my harness from the line. The view is incredible all around the tower! You have a perfect view of the mountains and parkway through Pigeon Forge. Make sure to put Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud Show and Adventure Park on your bucket list when coming to the Smokies, and bring your family and friends to watch the show and compete against one another at the adventure park.
