Tucked away on River Road in downtown Gatlinburg sits a three-story mansion that has been terrifying Smoky Mountain visitors for more than 40 years. Mysterious Mansion is Gatlinburg’s original haunted house, offering a classic haunted attraction filled with dark corridors, secret passageways, winding staircases, and plenty of unexpected scares.
Unlike a guided haunted tour, Mysterious Mansion sends guests on an unguided journey through the eerie house. You’ll have to find your own way through a maze of spine-chilling chambers while never knowing what or who might be waiting around the next corner. The three story experience is designed to keep you guessing from beginning to end.
As you make your way through the mansion, expect dark spaces, hidden passages, unsettling rooms, and live actors who may appear when you least expect them. The unpredictable nature of the experience means no two trips through the mansion feel exactly the same.
Mysterious Mansion is open throughout much of the year, with special presentations adding even more scares during select seasons. October weekends bring special Halloween presentations, while the Christmas season transforms the attraction with its own holiday themed experience.
Located at 424 River Road in Gatlinburg, Mysterious Mansion is within easy walking distance of the Parkway and many of downtown Gatlinburg’s attractions. From the Parkway, visitors can walk through Town Center Plaza to River Road, while those coming from the aquarium can follow the Riverwalk a few blocks to the mansion.
Group rates are available, and children ages 6 and younger currently receive free general admission, although Mysterious Mansion notes that the attraction is not recommended for small children.
If secret passageways, dark staircases, and unexpected encounters sound like your idea of a good time, step inside Mysterious Mansion and see why this Gatlinburg attraction has been delivering screams for more than four decades—if you dare!
