Discover a taste of Tennessee tradition at Old Tennessee Distilling Co. in Kodak, Tennessee. Inspired by the independent spirit of whiskey runners, outlaws, renegades, and pioneers, this East Tennessee distillery celebrates the people, stories, and craftsmanship that have shaped the state’s distilling heritage.
Originally opened as Thunder Road Distillery in 2014, the distillery became Old Tennessee Distilling Company in 2019. Today, it continues to honor Tennessee’s history while creating a diverse collection of spirits made on-site by experienced distillers.
Old Tennessee takes a farm to bottle approach to its spirits, drawing inspiration and ingredients from East Tennessee. Its Tennessee Frost Moonshine is a traditional 100-proof moonshine made from heirloom corn grown right here in East Tennessee. The distillery’s broader collection includes moonshine, whiskey, bourbon, vodka, gin, rum, and other distinctive spirits, giving visitors plenty of flavors and styles to explore.
The people behind the spirits bring generations of knowledge and experience to the distillery. Head Distiller Dwight Bearden comes from a family with a multigenerational history of making liquor and has spent decades perfecting his craft. Alongside the Old Tennessee team, that experience helps carry traditional distilling knowledge into the spirits produced today.
Visitors can stop by for complimentary tastings offered daily and sample a selection of Old Tennessee spirits before choosing their favorites to take home. The distillery also serves $5 cocktails, giving guests another way to experience its locally crafted spirits.
