Follow the rainbow to Parrot Mountain and Gardens, a one-of-a-kind Pigeon Forge attraction where hundreds of exotic birds, beautifully landscaped gardens, and interactive experiences come together in a peaceful Smoky Mountain setting. Located on four acres near Dollywood and Splash Country, Parrot Mountain offers families the opportunity to see, touch, and feed colorful birds from around the world while exploring thousands of flowers, plants, and trees.
The experience begins along beautifully landscaped paved pathways lined with natural stone and unique parrot cottages. Each cottage features its own distinctive design, with roof styles ranging from slate and clay tile to water reed and cedar shake. Along the way, visitors can hear talking and singing parrots and see tropical birds perched throughout the gardens.
Step through the yellow door into the Secret Garden, where toucans, hornbills, magpies and other exotic birds fly freely among the landscaping. From there, visit the Bird Garden, where approximately 70 birds sit on open perches. Guests can get an up-close look at different species, feed select birds by hand, and have photos taken while holding a parrot.
Another favorite stop is the lorikeet aviary, where colorful Australian lorikeets fly around visitors and drink nectar from cups held in their hands. Nearby, a picturesque waterfall and butterfly, peacock, and dragonfly benches provide a relaxing place to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the gardens.
The Baby Bird Nursery gives visitors an opportunity to see young parrots at different stages of development and watch as they are hand fed and cared for. Guests can interact with the baby birds, and some birds are available for purchase. Trained staff provides information about feeding, care, and everything needed to welcome a new bird into the family.
Parrot Mountain is also dedicated to protecting and preserving exotic parrots and other bird species. Its mission includes captive breeding efforts, providing a home for abused and unwanted birds, and educating visitors about the care and well-being of exotic birds. Species found throughout the park include macaws, cockatoos, african greys, amazon parrots, eclectus parrots, toucans, kookaburras, lorikeets, conures, and many more.
Beyond the birds, visitors can explore thousands of flowers, shrubs, plants and trees throughout the gardens. Stop by the English style cottage gift shop, enjoy lunch or a snack from the on site deli, or find a quiet spot overlooking the gardens and Smoky Mountains.
Located at 1471 McCarter Hollow Road in Pigeon Forge, Parrot Mountain and Gardens offers an interactive experience for visitors of nearly every age. Whether you come to hand feed a parrot, meet a baby bird, explore the Secret Garden, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings, it’s a colorful and memorable way to experience a different side of the Smoky Mountains.
